Full Service Plans: Death or incapacity

These plans are managed start-to-finish by a Time Well Spent consultant. The plans are collaborative and personalized, and there’s no need to assign an administrator. You can be assured that your Time Well Spent consultant can manage your clients, your business, and your legacy.

Death planning may include, but probably isn’t limited to:

  • Managing all client communication about the death event, providing referrals to clients as needed, providing guidance to the clients of the practice about accessing records, taking custody of the patient records and storing them for the legally required amount of time.

  • Supporting additional professionals associated with the deceased therapist (group practice members, contract staff, interns/associates, office-mates) in the process of contacting the board, finding a new supervisor, and client retention issues while supervision is on hold.

  • Notifying insurance companies, contract holders, and the state board (upon receipt of signed death certificate).

  • Cleaning and closing of the physical office spaces, arranging for final bills to be paid, and other duties as needed by the estate of the deceased therapist.

  • Managing digital and written communication (emails, social media, websites) to reflect the closure of the practice.

  • Acting as an authorized entity on practice bank accounts.

  • Coordinating with legal and financial professionals (eg accountants, tax professionals, payroll providers).

  • Providing peace of mind that clients are cared for, records are secure, and family and friends will not face the difficult emotional work of securely closing a practice while also grieving a significant loss.
